hello world

It seams appropriate to make this the first post title for this blog for the newly formed Alliance for Digital Fabrication Education. Of course this refers to the usage by Brian Kernighan who actually wrote the first “Hello, World!” program as part of the documentation for the BCPL programming language developed by Martin Richards. BCPL was used while C was being developed at Bell Labs a few years before the publication of Kernighan and Ritchie’s C book in 1972.

It became a standard for new programmers after it appeared in Kernighan and Ritchie’s book, which is probably the best selling introduction to programming of all time. I am hopeful to make an impact of a similar scale by bringing the empowering capabilities of digital fabrication to the lives of young people everywhere, and hope I can someday say “hello adFABe world”
